illi Intensive Courses
illi's Intensive Courses (IC) are the most exhaustive and comprehensive training for landscape lighting design and techniques available in the industry. Landscape lighting is one of the most challenging aspects of lighting design and installation overall: you work in an open space affected by seasonal changes, a constantly changing and growing environment exposed to the elements. Overcoming these challenges, however, makes it even more rewarding, an Intensive Course provides the tools to understand how to successfully maneuver these obstacles and create a safe, enjoyable lighted night environment.
This 5 day class, including illi's founder, internationally acclaimed lighting designer Janet Lennox Moyer, is instructed by illi's diverse team of lighting professionals. Our student to instructor ratio is almost one to one. Instruction is a series of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, and 5 evenings/nights of hands-on field work guided by your mentor/instructors. Equipment from all major manufacturers allows you to explore landscape lighting, freely and creatively.
When you have completed the class you will be able to create beautiful lighted compositions, correctly install the low-voltage equipment, have the understanding and tools to document the system, and know the steps to properly maintain the equipment to insure its longevity.
The culmination of your learning experience in the Intensive Course is a landscape lighting project. In teams of six, you and your team mates design, specify, install and aim a full-scale mock-up project. On your final night at the course, a celebratory evening, your team presents your project to your guest "clients", your mentors, invited guests, and the public.
